Ghost mannequin styling is a very popular effect for garments. The clothing is shot on a mannequin to give it a realistic human contouring. The image is then cut out without the mannequin showing, hence the term GHOST. We have lots of examples and more information about our approach and technique over on our ghost mannequin photography page.
Front-only mannequin cut-out
A basic mannequin cut-out will show only the front of the garment. This styling works well for strappy and low back clothing. Lingerie and swimsuits are usually shot this way. It’s generally the best solution for garments with lace trims, fine meshes or partially transparent fabrics.
The usual cost for a front-only mannequin cut-out is £15 + vat per image.
Full ghost mannequin cut-out
For many garments, a total ghost styling gives even greater 3-dimensionality by showing some of the inner fabric.
Ghost mannequin shots are also good for showing the brand label.
Creating a ghost mannequin image requires extra shots to capture the inside of the garment and extra post-production time to “stitch together” two or more images seamlessly for a realistic, professional look, hence the slightly higher cost of £18 + vat per image.
It’s a great effect and we’re very good at it.
Angled ghost mannequin
Mannequin shots are usually straight-on, but some garments benefit from being angled, such as maternity clothing, which often requires a 45 degree angle to emphasise the bump. Please let us know in advance if you want an angled mannequin perspective.
Ghost heads
Some other items benefit from a “ghost” to give them 3-dimensionality. Here we have two ghost heads.
