Animated images

Animated gifs (graphics interchange format) are simple, lightweight animation files, popular in email marketing campaigns.

Animated gifs are especially popular for children’s and women’s clothing, e.g. with a jumper arm waving for instant fun and appeal, or the toy car flying over the trousers seen below.

In the example shown above, there were two individual product shots, the trousers and the car. These were cut out onto a transparent background in Photoshop. We then made a motion sequence of 17 separate frames to make it look like the car is flying over the trousers, taking care over the timing for each frame.

Finally we output the animation sequence embedded within a single gif file. At 1-2mb in file size, these animated gif images are ready-made for sending in an email, including with a system such as MailChimp or Campaign Monitor.

The animations are often looped so they play over and over, but they can also be set to play just once or a specific number of times on load.
